There is no doubt that New York is a wonderful city and it has so many interesting sites that you will not be bored even for a minute. The short trips to this city are not recommended, better try to have at least two weeks here, if a month vacation is not possible. Among the most important things here is to get a decent holiday apartment in New York and feel cozy and comfortable there. The rest is easy; you just need some careful planning before the trip, a good guide book and a good map. If this is not your first time in New York and you want to look around the area, then there are some day trips from New York city that you can consider. Thus, if you have some days that you want to spend outside the Big Apple, here are some trip ideas that you might want to consider.

Among the first options is to visit the famous and inspiring Niagara Falls. Be prepared for an amazing experience there, and also be prepared to get wet if you go nearer the falls with a boat. The other option would be to visit the Washington DC, the capital of the United States, where is to be seen a wide variety of attractions and some important government buildings. The third option would be to visit the city of Boston, although this would be a better idea if you have at least two days for that. A visit to the city of Atlanta is also a great idea for a one-day trip from New York. Those travelers who want a more relaxing experience should visit the Belmont Park and see some live horse racing on Wednesdays through Sundays. This park could be reached with the Long Island Railroad, taken from the Penn Station in Manhattan. A day trip to the Monmouth Park Racetrack is also possible. It is placed on the New Jersey shore and is accessible by train and by ferry. Another great park to consider is the Near Mountain State Park with its hiking trails and options for swimming and boating, making of picnics, hiking and cross-country skiing, ice skating and sledding, etc.
Another one-day great experience would a visit at the Brotherhood Winery, which is the oldest winery in the United States, which provides many tours and nice holiday events. The Duck Walk Vineyards, the Palmer Vineyards and the Pindar Vineyards are also great for a visit and some wine tasting. If you like candlelight tours check Cape May with its gingerbread houses and make sure to visit the whale watching places. Interesting to be seen is also the Historic Hudson Valley with its mansions, where are available many activities for all ages. Those who love the beach area should go to Montauk Point. Besides the relaxing atmosphere and the lovely beaches, people could enjoy here the oldest lighthouse in the state of New York, which also happens to be a very popular place to get married.
